Men's MinistryProverbs 27:17 “As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.” Luke 24: 32 “They asked one another, ‘Were not our hearts burning within us while he talked with us on the road and opened the Scriptures to us.’” (Luke 24:13-35) Through the first year of ministry, Proverbs 27 reminded the men of The Freedom Center that it was important for us to get together. We learned from God’s word and to learned from each other. With our vast experiences and knowledge, each man contributes each time we have a meeting, sometimes without saying anything. Now as the second year is here, we turn to the living water, the bread of life, to God’s word to kindle a fire in our hearts. In the scripture from Luke, Jesus is explaining to the travelers going to Emmaus what the Old Testament scriptures had foretold about Him. The travelers recall a burning in their hearts as Jesus opened the scriptures to them. Now, we can do the same: use scripture to fuel a burning in our heart for God and to know Him better.
